Don’t Miss Your Life

I was walking my son in our driveway (we have a very long driveway), listening to my iPod, when “Don’t Miss Your Life” by Phil Vassar started playing.  I’ve always loved that song, but man does it hit you hard when you have a child of your own.  I am eternally grateful to my husband to allow me to be a stay at home mom.  He sacrifices his time with our son to make sure I am able to stay home to raise him.  I don’t have to worry about missing any of his firsts.

On that note, we were blessed with one of our son’s firsts this weekend.  He took his first step!  and then…he took another!!!  The best part of this first was that my husband was right by my side to witness it.  It’s one thing to be there for one of your child’s firsts, it’s a totally different experience to be able to share it with your spouse.  I expect our lil man to take off this week and am already trying to do some more child proofing.  Although, knowing how accident prone my husband and I were as kids, I don’t think it will ever be enough.  I am dreading the first time our lil man really gets hurt.  My heart is so wide open and I am so in love with him, I imagine the pain will hurt my heart more than it will hurt him.

This weeks To Do list:

  • Strap down the living room TV
  • Secure cabinets
  • Figure out how to secure stove top knobs (anyone have any tips for this?)
  • Encourage more steps
  • Cherish every moment!
