It is officially summer! Thankfully, it is also the first day in a while that is cool enough to spend some time outdoors. So, today, we headed over to a local park for a walk. The Sterling Colorado library has created a Story Walk in the park.
“StoryWalk® is a fun, educational activity that places a children’s story (a deconstructed book, page by page) on a post along a popular walking route in the community. StoryWalk® is a wonderful way to take young children outdoors and combine physical activity with learning. StoryWalk in the Park helps build children’s interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for both children and adults.”-Explore Sterling Colorado
The current book is Giraffes Can’t Dance. Since we already read that book at home, my son loved it. I enjoyed getting out for a walk and am looking forward to taking our puppy there in the future. I encourage you to find out if there is a park in your area with this opportunity! What a great way to spend some time being active and still educating your child. I can’t wait till our son is old enough to run from page to page throughout the park.
I told my husband about our adventure and he suggested setting up something similar on our property. My wheels are spinning…
