You Guys!!! I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Christina Nifong over at ChristinaNifong.com. I am so honored. I feel like I need to give an academy award style speech with a list of those I’d like to thank. I’ll spare you the list, but many thanks to Christina. I’ve been drooling over some of her recipes and urge you to stop on over and check out her strawberry shortcake recipe.
Oh, if you’re wondering what a Liebster award is, you can check out the details over at The Global Aussie. Basically, it’s an award for newer bloggers to be discovered and help promote other new bloggers. In my book, it’s a great honor!
Since I began this blogging adventure, I found one blog that I immediately fell in love with-Cooking with a Wallflower. The blog has some incredible recipes, but that’s not what won me over. Her photography is beautiful. I mean, just the pictures make me want to try out what she posted about. Oh, and then there are the spoons in the photos. I don’t know what it is about them, but these spoons with little sayings on them are so adorable. Check out her Strawberry Fig Caprese Salad recipe and you’ll see what I mean. She adds those little touches to her pictures that make you want to dive right in.
Back to the Liebster award…here are the questions Christina tasked me with:
What made you begin blogging? I started blogging while struggling with infertility back in 2014. It was a great way to help keep my mind off of our struggles. I took some time off once we conceived. Once our son was born, I was able to become a stay at home mom and spend my days and nights with him. I feel this outlet helps me connect with people outside the home and also improve my writing skills.
What’s your favorite part about blogging? I love connecting with other bloggers and learning from their experiences. It’s great to read what other moms struggle with and to know you’re not alone. Plus, who doesn’t love getting new recipes?
What have you learned since you began blogging? I am always learning more about how to edit my website. It’s definitely a labor of love.
Where do you live now? I live in a very small town in Northeastern Colorado on 49+ acres with my husband, son, dog, eight puppies and fifteen chickens.
Where did you grow up? I grew up near Milwaukee, WI-I consider myself a reformed big city girl.
What place do you think has shaped you more than any other? I traveled to Costa Rica with a friend on very short notice. We stayed at a “resort” with no hot water and a 1.5 hour boat ride from the closest town. (no roads, stores, electricity-other than a generator) It was the most amazing experience and made me more open to the outdoors and nature. It’s probably a big part of why I found a passion for hunting.
What’s your favorite dinner? My favorite dinner was at Smith & Wollensky’s in Las Vegas for our third wedding anniversary. I loved getting dressed up and enjoying beef tartar (for the first time ever), filet mignon and their truffle mac & cheese-to die for…
What’s your favorite dessert? Smores! I’ve always loved playing with my food.
What’s your favorite potluck dish to bring to an event? Funeral potatoes
If you could grow anything in the world, what would you grow? Hydrangeas-they are my favorite flowers and I just can’t seem to keep them alive.
If you eat as much locally grown food as you can, why do you do it? If not, why not? I eat as much as I can from our garden. This year, we are trying out beets. I can’t wait to try pickling them.
