I knew potty training wasn’t going to be a walk in the park, but this is intense! I am grateful for my puppy potty training adventures, but I still wasn’t prepared for this many wet articles of clothing.
We are using the book Diaper Free Before 3: The Healthier Way to Toilet Train and Help Your Child Out of Diapers Sooner. (You can read more about our experiences so far over here.) The author encourages you to clear your calendar at this stage. I’m glad I took her advice. We made a run to the store this morning and started with underwear and plastic covers when we returned. When nap time came around, we were out of clean underwear and excited for a diaper break. Seriously, this is a lot of work.
I started a log today and will be posting updates on our Front Porch Bliss Facebook Page. I want to give parents an idea of what they are getting themselves in to. The book gives you a great overview, but this will be the nitty gritty truth with some tips or experiences sprinkled in. I’ll be logging wet underwear, soiled underwear, laundry loads and even the number of times the potty is actually successfully used!
Special thanks to my sister-in-law today for her words of encouragement!
